Renowned Nigerian musician Fireboy DML has openly discussed his previous attempt to mimic American pop diva Beyoncé‘s stage act, admitting he was not able to match the multi-Grammy winner’s skill.

Fireboy DML shared his early hardships and desire to perform in front of enormous crowds while looking back on his career as an artist.

He disclosed that he has always written songs with the intention of seeing himself on stage in an interview with RollingStone that went viral on Tuesday, April 22, 2024.

Right from time, even when I used to write my saddest songs, I used to imagine myself playing them in front of millions of people. I always imagine myself on stage when I write my songs,” Fireboy stated.

Fireboy DML acknowledged his failures at first, but he remained dedicated to his own artistic development. He described how he brings the studio energy to his live performances, putting the audience’s enjoyment and participation first.

Fireboy DML acknowledged that he tried to replicate Beyoncé‘s stage routine, but he acknowledged that it was difficult to maintain.

There was a time I tried to copy Beyoncé’s routine. But I didn’t last two days.
